M/Y Insignia was originally built by Elsflether Werft Germany to Germanischer Lloyds Maltese Cross 100A4/MC, M/Y Insignia is a high tensile steel hull and aluminum superstructure yacht. Christened M/Y Hanse by its first owner Baron von Thyssen, she carried the name until 2002 when her new owners chose Insignia-Yachts to bring this classic yacht into the 21st Century. The mandate given was to provide the project management with a no-expense-spared major refit aimed at converting this classic and nautically sturdy blue water vessel into a modern day super-yacht of incomparable luxury that would match its seaworthiness. To achieve this goal, Insignia Yachts enlisted the help of Luiz Debasto, to handle the exterior re-styling and do a complete revamp of the entire interior layout. Having given Luiz Debasto a free rein to unleash his design genius, it was not surprising that, effectively, a completely new vessel had to be built on the original hull. In creating M/Y Insignia, the original boat was stripped down to the metal of the hull, which was then extensively altered through stylistic and structural additions. The interiors were completely reborn and were created on a completely new foundation which required that all the invisible infrastructure (not exclusive of the wiring, the piping, the utilities, the electronics and the engine room), be built afresh.
M/Y INSIGNIA features 7 spacious cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms and comfortable beds, capable of hosting a total of 14 guests ensuring pleasure and supreme privacy throughout your cruise. There is a Master cabin on Main deck, 1 VIP cabin, 2 Queen Double cabins and 3 Twin cabins.

It features a King size bed, a study desk, a 12m2 His & Her marble bathroom as well as a steam bath, with central rain-shower spa and a walk in dressing room. Without moving from the bed, the occupants can admire the passing scenery on either side, or enjoy a television or video feature on the giant plasma screen which is concealed behind a remote-controlled retractable panel when not in use. The very attractive VIP Suite, on the Lower Deck, stretches across the full beam, with a queen sized bed set to one side and a comfortable seating area opposite. The splendid bathroom includes a 2 person Jacuzzi tub as well as a shower and there is a generous amount of storage in a lobby between the bedroom and the bathroom. A flexible arrangement of guest staterooms can accommodate a wide variety of guests. Three of the staterooms have a twin bed arrangement that can easily be changed to a king-sized bed. As well, the same guest staterooms each have an additional Pullman bed. Located in the lazarette area of the Lower Deck, a separate Sauna with a dressing-room and a shower room is also available to the guests.
