Swan 50-007 RS ORION



Made by fiberglass reinforced polyester by the hand laying-up method.

Structural bulkheads are of marine water-proof plywood, laminated to hull and deck.

Stiffeners are GRP lay-ups over foam cores. Web floors of GRP are laminated to hull.

Engine beds are of GRP with steel inserts

On topsides heavy teak rubbing strake with stainless steel strip

White gel coat colour finish (still original never re-painted), cove stripe blue (Nautor light blue)


Ballast keel is a lead casting with antimony with cast-in keel stainless steel bolts


The masts are stepped through the deck on galvanized mild steel mast steps

Transverse bolts through heel of main mast

Lower flange of mast step connects to the keel bolts

Heavy GRP brackets are laminated to the hull for the stainless steel chain plates.


Made by foam filled GRP with integrated stainless steel shaft, supported by three nylon-bushed bearings.

Rudder shaft extended up through the main cabin and poop deck for emergency helm



All visible wood work in teak with hand rubbed satin finis.

Floor boards with laid teak veneer, providing access to the different bilge compartments

Sea cocks of stainless steel for all through-hull connection under water, except the two of the cockpit drainage made by bronze, all located in accessible positions

All fuel and fresh water tanks are made by welded stainless steel, provided with baffles, hand holes for cleaning (easy access)

Head sump tanks are of GRP, integral the molded floor liner


Fuel capacity 1800 liters (480 US gallons) in four tanks with shut-off cocks located under the saloon, aside the engine room.

Three tanks are as reservoir, only the fourth one is the daily tank connected directly to the engine by flexible tube with two filters.

The three reservoir tanks are connected to the main daily tank by a pump manually activated with a flow capacity of 30lt/minute.
