Accommodations

The only four stateroom Cape Horn, Discover sleeps eight (2) forward bow guest staterooms sleep 2 each in upper and lower berths inboard. The port side guest stateroom sleeps 2 in upper and lower berths; master stateroom is aft with queen size island berth. Interior woodwork is cherry with mahogany sole; carpet in staterooms; tiling is Italian ceramic. Recessed lighting and generous stowage throughout.

Forward Companionway

Steps lead below to companionway with port and starboard grab rails and courtesy lights. These are recessed lights and carpeted sole. Two steps lead to aft master stateroom. Watertight door leads to forward bow stateroom area. Companionway houses electrical panels and meters, bilge pump switches and indicator lights, as well as batteries, bilge, macerator, and fresh water pumps, and high water alarm. All carpeting is new.

Electrical

Electrical system consist of 12V DC, 110 AC and 220 AC 60 HZ sources. Shore power requirements are  50AMP 220VAC, 60HZ single phase. Construction

Construction with safety as foremost priority. Steel fuel and water tanks integral to hill essentially creating a double steel bottom. Discover is a second generation Cape Horn 55'. She was built with the emphasis on safety and redundancies for which Cape Horn Trawlers have become world famous. With proven seakeeping capabilities. Discover offers a rare opportunity to purchase a fully founded well equipped yachts with all of the outfitting and amenities selected by a knowledgeable owner.

The first major refit was in 2003 when many electronics were added and upgraded; deck railings and stanchions added to upper house deck 2004; interior woodwork refinished 2004; new yacht finish paint 2007. In 2007 the swim platform was extended; the mast and crow's nest were removed and a boom was installed. The second major refit 9costing more than $250,000) was in 2011 and 2012 and included new pilothouse helm, new complete Awlgrip paint job, new bearings and seals for prop shaft, and numerous system upgrades. Winter of 2013 refit included approximately $50,000 of improvements in decore and conveniences. Several thousands of dollars worth of spare parts are on board. Discovery is in loaded and ready to go condition to take her new owners anywhere and everywhere.
