ABOUT MADRUGADOR

"Madrugador" was the first in a series of custom Long Range Pilot House Sportfishers built by Buck Smith on an Airex cored fiberglass hull, designed by Ed Month, Jr. The hull was produced by the respected Elliott Yacht Company. This is hull #1 and was Buck Smith’s personal yacht and is widely considered the best of the series. In 2006 the current owner had the cockpit extended six feet without sectioning the hull or moving the running gear. To complement the extension, MADRUAGOR’s entire hull bottom was re-sheathed with impervious five layers of new epoxy vinyl ester instead of standard fiberglass and resin. The project was superbly designed and built by German Marine Engineer Klaus Thomas and the bottom hull modification work was done by Ian Biggwither of Hull Tech Marine at the Driscoll Shipyard on Mission Bay in San Diego, CA. The project dramatically improved and strengthened the yacht with many custom features and upgrades listed in the specifications below. Today MADRUGADOR stands tall as a proven, seaworthy long range Pilothouse Sportfisher, smartly rigged for tournament fishing as well as serious offshore cruising expeditions.

Introduction

"MADRUGADOR" was the first in a series of custom Long Range Pilot House Sportfishers built by Buck Smith on an Airex cored fiberglass hull, designed by Ed Month, Jr. The hull was  produced by the respected Elliott Yacht Company. This is hull #1  and was Buck Smith’s personal yacht and is widely considered the best of the series. In 2006 the current owner had the cockpit extended six feet without sectioning the hull or moving the running gear.  To complement the extension, MADRUAGOR’s entire hull bottom was re-sheathed with impervious five layers the new epoxy vinyl ester instead of standard fiberglass and resin.

Remarks

The present owner of MADRUGADOR dramatically improved and strengthened the vessel in 2006 with the smart cockpit extension and new epoxy bottom.  Since that time the yacht has been very well-maintained and continually upgraded with the best equipment and custom features too numerous to list.  An exceptional value, MADRUGADOR must be seen to truly appreciate.  Subject to approval, MADRUAGADOR’s prime Newport Beach slip is available with purchase.
