Heesen Yachts located in Oss, The Netherlands is one of the premier Dutch shipyards, arguably building the strongest aluminum yachts in the world. THE FLYING DUTCHMAN’s current owner is a very knowledgeable yachtsman. He purchased the boat in 2007 and set about completely refitting the vessel. Between 2008 and 2010 virtually every system
on board was refurbished or replaced. In addition to the predictable replacement of the décor, electronics, appliances and audio/visual equipment, much of the plumbing and electrical systems was replaced new. All electrical panels, including gauges and circuit breakers are new, complimented by two new Norpro gensets. The upgraded hydraulic system includes two new PTO’s at the main engines. Some hull replating was done as needed and the exhaust system was completely replaced. The work continued in this decade, including all–new exterior paint, including new hull paint in 2013. Today, THE FLYING DUTCHMAN is a terrific example of excellent Dutch pedigree, restored to near new condition.
