The ISLAND HOPE was built as a standard 61 Hatteras Cockpit Motor yacht prior to being purchased by the current owner.  The yacht had all of the requirements the owners were looking for including a good size cockpit, large aft deck and salon, full galley with full scale appliances, larger flybridge and three nice staterooms.

Because the current owners were looking for a yacht capable of making long, self-sustained cruises to explore remote destinations, the standard GM 12V71TI’s were replaced with Swedish Scania engines that saved about 3,000 lbs. in weight.  These engines were chosen because they are reliable, none common rail and easy to repair.  Additionally, injectors can be replaced by most any mechanic and when traveling to far-off locations, simplicity is important.  The generators were replaced with 2 Mas-Power Generators: a 22.5 KW & a 10 KW night time unit.  A power convertor was also installed so refrigeration and lights could be run without the generators.  The hydraulic system was also changed to a Wesmar system that powers the stabilizers, windlass and the bow thruster.  Many other features were added to the yacht including a fuel polishing system, extra freezers, a grill and new air conditioning compressors. The yacht was completely redecorated, the galley was refitted with all new cabinets and appliances, and the entire yacht was painted.  This is not your standard 61 Hatteras CPMY, but one redesigned for extended self-sustained cruising.

Walk Through / Layout

ISLAND HOPE has the layout of the standard 61 CPMY with a large cockpit, large aft deck, full walk-around decks and a steering station forward of  and open to the salon.  On the starboard side of the salon, down a few steps, is the full galley with booth style dinette.  Forward is the bow stateroom with ensuite head and shower, over/under berths and plenty of storage.  Aft of the galley and down the hallway is a washer/dryer and linen locker and then the guest stateroom with twin lower berths. A head with shower is across the hall.  Next aft are the twin engine rooms. At the end of the hallway is the Master Suite with center line Queen berth and ensuite head with shower and tub.  The flybridge is accessed from the aft deck via a ladder.  The bridge features a full steering station, custom bar and food center, L-lounges with corner table, radar arch with fore and aft Bimini tops and a dinghy and davit.
