Established: 1977

Located: Egg Harbor City, New Jersey
Construction: Fiberglass
Category: Sportfish, Motoryachts
Worth Noting: The Ocean 53 Super Sport was one of the first fishing boats to break the 40-knot barrier in 1994.

In 1977 Jack Leek launched Ocean Yachts with the company's first boat - a 40' sportfisherman. But Jack was not the first Leek to build boats in New Jersey. In fact, Leeks have been building and launching them in the historic Mullica River since 1721.

Ocean's heritage reaches as far back as the original American colonies. Leek-manufactured vessels helped develop our coastal and river trade, create a rich fishing industry, battle pirates and privateers, intercept rum runners during Prohibition and German U-boats in World War II. We can justly say that the Leek family's involvement in the American maritime industry is as old as the industry itself.

Today's Ocean Yachts may have little in common with those early Leek vessels. But they express - in fiberglass instead of wood - the same spirited determination to produce the highest quality yachts in the world.

It is this resolve that has made Ocean Yachts the world's largest producer of quality-built Super Sports, Sport Fish, and Odyssey models in the 40' to 73' class. Ocean yachts are valued by thousands of owners - running in all the world's great seas - for their unbeatable combination of performance, speed, power, luxury, styling and durability. Boats that appeal to serious sportfishermen and devoted pleasure cruisers, alike.

Power Boat Guide Says:

The Ocean 45 Super Sport is a high-style convertible whose beautifully finished interior and excellent performance made her popular with hardcore anglers as well as family cruisers.

Like all Ocean models, she’s built on a low-deadrise, modified-V hull whose tapered design narrows considerably at the transom. The result is a fast and efficient hull form..

Below decks, the two stateroom floor plan of the 45 Super Sport is unique. The spacious master stateroom, with its angled double bed, is forward, and the en suite head compartment is in the bow—very unusual indeed.

Also unusual is the guest stateroom with its slide-out single bunk and a double bed that extends beneath the salon dinette.

On the deck house level, the salon, galley and dinette all combine to form a large and comfortable living area.

Additional features include cockpit tackle centers, an offset bridge ladder, teak covering boards, transom door, and a spacious flybridge with hardtop.

A good-running boat with 485hp Detroit 6-71s, the 45 Super Sport will cruise around 26 knots and reach a top speed of 31–32 knots.
