ABOUT CALLISTO

CALLISTO is an exceptional example of the Baltic 52’s.  Originally launched in 1996 with many custom details, including a unique window treatment adapted from the new Baltic 47, she was completely refit and rebuilt in 2009 with all systems renewed and modified to “state of the art”.  The short list included electric in-boom furling, electric furling Rondal headstay installed below deck level, flush hull mounted anchor system, teak mid-deck redesign, flush mounted hatches, new rigging, sails and electronics.  Imported to the US in 2010, her present owner has continued the best of maintenance.

With her simple but powerful sailplan, she offers thoroughbred performance with all systems managed automatically from the cockpit.  Her three stateroom arrangement is extremely comfortable and the ergonomics of the main salon, galley and navigation station create a practical and gracious living environment.  The fit and finish of the joinerwork are all that one would expect from Baltic – simply elegant.

Accommodations

The MAIN SALON is amidships, with a large “U” shaped dinette to port with a centerline facing seat, to allow dining for up to eight.  The inlaid teak table converts to a double bunk as well.  To starboard is a second settee with storage and bookcases outboard.  The fully equipped NAVIGATION STATION is aft to starboard, with instrumentation forward and outboard, and custom chart storage above.  The wet locker is immediately aft, adjoining the companionway.

The fully equipped GALLEY is to port, with double SS sinks, H/C pressure water, fresh and salt water foot pumps, Alpes 4 burner propane stove with oven and refrigeration/freezer by Frigomar.

The OWNER’S STATEROOM is aft, with a centerline queen berth, hanging lockers, seating and additional stowage outboard port and starboard, (4) opening ports to the cockpit area for an abundance of light and natural ventilation.  The ensuite head with stall shower is forward to port.

Forward of the salon, two mirror GUEST STATEROOMS have twin upper and lower berths, the upper gimbals and each has a night stand, stowage drawers, hanging locker and access to the GUEST HEAD and shower.

Fully forward, the CREW CABIN has a berth to starboard, head and folding sink to port and an opening hatch to the foredeck.

Deck Layout

Fully aft, the HELM COCKPIT has all controls for operating the yacht, all conveniently located to the helm such that CALLISTO can be easily tacked single handed.  During the 2008 refit, the deck layout was re-engineered and simplified to allow complete operation with a simple compliment of electric secondary and manual primary winches, with sail handling lines led below decks to cockpit jammers in an arrangement that is elegant in its simplicity.  Also in 2009, a Reckman racing, electric furling headstay was installed, with drum and all machinery below deck level!

Cockpit seating includes a full width seat aft, plus port and starboard seating.  Forward, there is additional seating aft of the main companionway, protected by the dodger.

All other deck areas are clear and uncluttered, with new low profile Lewmar Hatches and flush mounted foredeck & aft cabin hatches, 2009.  A custom below deck anchor system was engineered and installed in 2008, with the anchor fit exactly to the hull and lowered below decks from a new Lewmar vertical windlass.  A Sanguinetti retractable mooring capstain was also installed in 2008, along with an electric, retractable stern passarelle at the transom

Broker Comments

The Baltic 52 is an exceptional design by S&S, offering top performance and gracious accommodations in three owner/guest staterooms, plus crew quarters.  Her comprehensive customizing and refit between 2008-10, took the yacht to a new level of perfection.  Sailhandling was simplified with electric in-boom furling, electric winches and all sailhandling in reach of the helm.  Performance was optimized with a below decks electric headsail furling and simplified deck layout.  An electric stern boarding passarelle was installed, and a custom anchor system, flush mounted to the hull with Lewmar winclass added unique functionality.  Visually,  her custom windows, varnished toerails and teak mid-deck area set her clearly apart from all others.  CALLISTO is a special yacht indeed!
