ABOUT STRUMPET

Created From Dreams; Filled With History

"I want a boat that drinks 6, eats 4, and sleeps 2". This is what Ernest K. Gann said to Jay Benford (Yacht Designer) about what they were looking for when designing this particular boat. Strumpet emerged from the dreams of Ernest Gann and was built by Jensen Shipyard in Friday Harbor, WA. Designed and built with a sense of Romance and Practicality, Strumpet is a single diesel powered, trawler yacht that exudes strength, sturdiness, an appreciation for history, grace, purposefulness and privacy. Here you will find a vessel that has been constantly cared for and updated. The current owners have enjoyed Strumpet for 27 years, but it is time to move ashore. She is truly a Unique Vessel for a Discerning Yachtsman.

    The Dream

Strumpet was conceived from the dreams of the famous author Ernest K. Gann, designed by Jay Benford and built by the Jensen Shipyard in Friday Harbor, WA. Built in the style of husky, Scottish commercial fishing vessels, she is practical, efficient, sea worthy and serviceable. She has been described as a 60' Yacht in a 35' body. Her construction is of Mahogany and Alaskan cedar planking on steam bent White Oak frames, placed on 10" centers. Stem and stern posts are Gumwood and a Fir keel.

She requires very little effort to drive, slipping through the water easily, riding level, leaving very little wake behind her.
