Dyer 29 Hard Top

GRACE is a beautiful Dyer 29 hard-top downeast cruiser powered by a Yanmar diesel with under 600 hours. Well maintained and well equipped. You should make a point of seeing this Dyer 29 before you purchase another.

GRACE was first owned by the famed Bob Johnstone, or maybe better yet Mary. Bob, of J/.Boats fame, loved his Dyer Boats, he owned two; the first was a soft top. In 1993, Bob purchased a 1993 Dyer 29 as a 40th anniversary present to his wife Mary.

If your anniversary is near, think about it. GRACE is available.

GRACE has good accommodations inside and out for a 29' downeast picnic boat. The cockpit is large and has a comfortable seat across the transom. The helm deck is slightly raised to accommodate the engine, eliminating the need for the old style engine box. When Bob Johnstone had this Dyer built (his second Dyer 29) he had the hard top build with open sides. GRACE has enclosures for the sides and aft portion of the hard top. There are two comfortabe Pompanette seats forward, one for the helm and one to port for the mate.

It is easy to go forward alone the side decks to the foredeck.

Open the louvered companionway door and go down into the interior. The galley is to port, the head to starboard. Forward are V-berths that is over 6' 6" long with custom shelves above. Aft is a Hanging locker. There is lots of storage in drawers and shelves.

Deck & Hull

GRACE has the advantage of being built by The Anchorage Inc./Dyer Boats. Dyer Boats introduced this hull in 1955 and has built over 350 of the Dyer 29's. It is the longest running fiberglass boat being built and is renowned for quality construction. The Dyer hulls are built with seven layers of solid hand laid glass with two additional layers of glass from the spray rail down for extra strength.

The deck to hull joint is fused to the deck with silicon and bronze screws driven through the toe rail. This makes a very strong and dry joint. The bulkheads are tabbed to the hull and deck using glass mat and cloth.

The hull has a long wine stem shaped keel integral with rudder and the prop is in a protected area.

The cockpit can be fully covered with a canvas cover to keep her clean and dry. The helm deck side windows allow you to extend your cruising season. The custom aft seat has cushions and a teak table that can be stored below.

GRACE is powered by a Yanmar 6LP-DTE 250 HP diesel engine with only 580 hours use. The transmission is a Borg Warner Series 5000.

Racor 900 fuel filter.
