Company History
Founded in 1956 by George Hinterhoeller, Hinterhoeller Yachts was a Canadian boat builder that specialized in designing and building fiberglass sailboats. The company was located in Niagara on the Lake and was eventually absorbed into C&C Yachts when Hinterhoeller founded it in 1969. The first design that the company built was called the Y Flyer, that Hinterhoeller himself built, and completed building 40 of them starting in 1956. His next design was the Shark 24 that was first built of wood in 1959 and later in fiberglass; the yacht was very successful in the racing scene. The company closed in 1995, and the shipyard trademarks expired in 1998.
